Beit Midrash at Limmud 3: the evolution of Halacha - from Torah to Talmud to today
This session will consider the evolution of halacha from written to oral law and what application it has for us today. Using Jewish marriage as an example we will explore a basic talmudic passage and dissect the text as if we were sages of old, determining Jewish law for future generations. We will challenge each other to understand the fundamentals of Jewish marriage and the mechanics behind the evolution of halacha.

This is a Limmud Oz Beit Midrash session and runs from 9.45am  to 11.15am. This program is modelled on traditional Beit Midrash havruta (partner) style learning but with an open and pluralistic approach. No previous Talmud learning is necessary. See page 3 for more information
